Synopsis

A personal, visual essay about gender transition – focusing on the social context and implications and exploring how the world is different living as female compared to being perceived as male.
 

Jack tells his story by using and reframing gender focused tropes and imagery from popular culture, mythology, history and art.
 

Starring a queer cast displaying different aspects of Jack's life and identity, mirroring his experience from his unique point of view.​

Awards

Everyman won an RTS award and Best short film at SQIFF, as well as being shortlisted for a Grierson Award and screening at multiple BAFTA and Oscar qualifying festivals.

The Team

Writer Director: Jack Goessens

Producer: Reece Cargan 

In 2018 Jack and Reece met when Jack won (against Reece) at the Glasgow Short Film Festival Production Attic pitch with his film, Bouba & Kiki (2019), which premiered in the BAFTA qualifying competition at the festival the following year. 

Jack and Reece kept in touch and worked together as director and producer on Everyman (2021).

They then completed short film titled 'Who I Am Now', funded by Creative Scotland and LEAP. The script was written by Bombito collaborator and BAFTA winning writer Michael Lee Richardson. 

Jack and Reece have feature film Boifriend in development with BFI backed Short Circuit.
